His outstanding efforts in strengthening waste management systems, promoting environmental sanitation, championing tree-planting campaigns, and introducing climate-friendly policies have set a new benchmark for environmental leadership in the region.
While Dr. Hafiz Ahmed received the Special Achievement Award in Renewable Energy for his pivotal role in transforming Katsina’s energy landscape. Through his dedication to expanding renewable energy solutions and improving electricity access in rural communities, Katsina is now emerging as a trailblazer in the power and energy sector.
The colourful awards ceremony, held at the Continental Hotel in Abuja last week, brought together leaders and innovators from across Northern Nigeria. Among the distinguished awardees were Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. “This recognition strengthens our resolve to keep working towards a greener, healthier, and more sustainable Katsina for the benefit of all our people,” he said.
Dr. Hafiz Ahmed, in his acceptance speech, noted: “This award is not about me alone; it represents our shared dream of a brighter and more sustainable Katsina. I thank Governor Dikko Umaru Radda for his unwavering support and vision, which have made these achievements possible.”
He further commended the organizers for recognising the importance of renewable energy in shaping the future of the region, adding: “This honour inspires me to redouble efforts in delivering clean and reliable power, especially to our rural communities.”
