Governor Radda Inspects Ongoing 54km Road Project Linking Kadanya, Karadua, Kunduru and Radda Axis

Urges Contractors to Speed Up Work, Targets Road Commissioning Next Year

Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda, has inspected the ongoing 54-kilometer road construction project covering Kadanya, Karadua, Kunduru ,Radda, Tsakatsa, and Ganuwa, leading to Yana in Kuraye, with a spur linking the road to the Kafin Soli–Charanchi junction through Majen Wayya.

While expressing satisfaction with the progress made so far, the Governor urged the contractors to accelerate their work to ensure the project is completed and commissioned by next year.

Speaking during the inspection today, Governor Radda said his visit was to personally assess the level of progress on this strategic road, which serves as a major Agricultural belt in the state.

He noted that most of the hydraulic works have been completed, while earth-filling is progressing despite the challenges posed by the rainy season.

The Governor further explained that the road features two major bridge sites at Kadanya and Ganuwa. However, following consultations with engineers, the bridges are being redesigned into major dams, similar to the one constructed along the Katsina–Kano road at Eka.

According to him, this innovation will not only provide irrigation opportunities for local farmers but also promote economic development in the region.

“This project is serving two purposes at the same time — easing movement for farmers and traders, while also creating dams that will boost irrigation and agricultural activities across this fertile belt,” Governor Radda stated.

He stressed that the road, when completed, will significantly improve access for farmers in the region, making it easier to transport grains and other produce to markets.

The Governor added that the project will open up greater economic opportunities for the people living along the route.

While commending the progress so far, Governor Radda again urged the contractors to intensify their pace of work to ensure the road is ready for commissioning next year.

The Governor was accompanied on the inspection by his Principal Private Secretary, Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji; Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, Dr. Faisal Kaita; Special Adviser on Chieftaincy Affairs, Usman Abba Jaye; Special Adviser on Domestic Matters, Sabo Abba; and other top government officials.
