— Reaffirms Commitment to Statewide Electrification.
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to expanding access to clean, reliable, and sustainable energy across the state.
The Governor made this known today during an inspection visit to Kankia Local Government Area, where installation works for solar-powered streetlights are currently underway.
The project, designed to enhance security, improve night-time commerce, and promote community safety, forms part of the administration’s broader renewable energy rollout under the Department of Power and Energy.
Representing the Department, Engr. Abdulaziz Kabir Abdullahi led the team that conducted the Governor through the installation process.
The Governor expressed satisfaction with the quality and progress of the work, commending the Department of Power and Energy, the contractor Kalamu Wahid Engineering Limited, and the project consultant Engr. Abdullahi Bature for their professionalism and dedication.
Governor Radda emphasized that this initiative reflects his administration’s determination to ensure access to electricity and illumination in every community of Katsina State.
He further disclosed that similar installations will be replicated across other local government areas, in line with the state’s drive to improve public infrastructure and enhance the safety and well-being of citizens.
“This project is not just about lighting our streets—it is about powering progress, promoting safety, and improving livelihoods,” the Governor stated.
The solar streetlight initiative is part of Katsina’s broader clean energy transition program, which integrates solar, wind, hydro, and gas-to-power solutions to reduce costs, cut emissions, and strengthen energy security across the state.
