Mothers Urged to Prioritize Regular Health Checks to Prevent Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV

Mothers have been encouraged to consistently visit the nearest health centres to monitor their health status, particularly during pregnancy.

The Wife of the Katsina State Governor, Hajiya Zulaihat Dikko Radda, made the call during an outreach programme on the Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) of HIV/AIDS and the distribution of Mama Kits to 100 pregnant women in Charanchi Local Government Area.

The event was organised by the Katsina State Agency for the Control of AIDS (KATSACA), in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady Safe Space Humanitarian Initiative (SHASHI).

Represented by the wife of the Chief of Staff, Hajiya Maijida Andaje, the Governor’s Wife reaffirmed her commitment to supporting ongoing efforts aimed at eliminating mother-to-child transmission of HIV in the state.

She stressed the importance of early antenatal care and regular check-ups to ensure that no child is exposed to the infection during pregnancy, delivery, or breastfeeding.

She further appealed to pregnant women to adhere strictly to medical advice provided by health professionals for the wellbeing of both mother and child.

Dignitaries present at the event included representatives from KATSACA, officials from the Office of the First Lady, community leaders, and health workers.
