The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, says the deliberate efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are gradually tackling brain drain and energising the growth of medical industrialisation in Nigeria.
He made the remark at the Fourth Attestation Ceremony of the 2025 MBBS class of the Nile University of Nigeria, on Friday in Abuja.
“And we can see that with what the President has done; he launched six oncology centers across this country and also the rehabilitation of all the tertiary healthcare facilities,” said Idris, adding, “it’s an indication that the Nigerian healthcare system is on its way to becoming world-class, given the encouraging policies spurring medical industrialization.”
The Minister said medical professionals must key into the President’s vision aimed at ensuring that practitioners have the support and conducive environment to remain in the country and serve.
He noted that the healthcare sector has continued to witness steady improvements through the revitalisation of primary healthcare centres and increased funding, which are strengthening medical industrialisation nationwide.
Among the 58 students who received attestation after successfully completing their six-year MBBS programme at Nile University was the Minister’s daughter, Rukaya Mohammed Idris, who took the medical oath and pledge before parents, guardians, and the academic community.
