The Kanwan Katsina and District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara, mni, has commended Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, for executing impactful developmental projects under the Katsina State Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (KT-CARES) programme.
The traditional ruler made the commendation during an exclusive interview with officials of Nigeria CARES (NG-CARES), who were in Katsina State from Abuja to inspect projects executed by the State KT-CARES Office and to interact with stakeholders, beneficiaries, and traditional leaders.
Speaking on the achievements recorded in Ketare District, the Kanwan Katsina noted that the district has benefitted significantly from the KT-Cares project, particularly the construction of Community Day Secondary Schools in Wawal Kaza and Ganzamawa, which serve several surrounding communities, and this contributed a lot in bringing down the number of out of school children in the communities.
He emphasized the critical role of traditional rulers in sensitizing communities on the importance of girl-child education and community-driven development, noting that many girls can be trained as nurses, midwives, and other healthcare providers on completion of secondary education.
The Kanwan Katsina further explained that traditional institutions also contribute by ensuring the availability of land for project execution in their respective communities.
It should be recalled that KT-CARES is a World Bank-supported programme with counterpart funding from the Katsina State Government, providing interventions in education, health, water supply, nutrition, erosion control, and other critical sectors.
He commended Governor Radda for the timely release of counterpart funds, which he said has ensured the sustainability and successful implementation of the programme across the state and urge the governor not to relent on his efforts in this direction for the benefit of more communities in the state.
