- Batsari, Kusada District Delegations Storm Government House
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has called for unity, cooperation, and responsible leadership among traditional institutions and community stakeholders as delegations from Batsari and Kusada stormed Government House.
The Governor made the call while receiving district heads and community representatives following the conferment of traditional titles by the Katsina Emirate Council.
Governor Radda congratulated the newly appointed traditional title holders, including the Bebejin Katsina and the Sarkin Ruma of Batsari, describing traditional titles as sacred responsibilities that must be exercised with humility, wisdom, and fairness.
“Traditional titles are not symbols of privilege alone; they are sacred trusts that demand humility, justice, and service to the people,” the Governor said. “Those entrusted with these responsibilities must lead with fairness, compassion, and a deep sense of duty.”
He urged communities in Kusada and Batsari to support and guide their traditional leaders, stressing that unity among families, elders, and stakeholders remains essential for peace, stability, and development.
“Peace and progress can only thrive where there is unity. Families, elders, and community leaders must stand together to support the traditional institution,” he added.
The Governor advised the new title holders to work closely with senior elders and respected figures in their communities.
“Experience is a great teacher. I encourage you to consult and learn from elders whose wisdom and guidance will strengthen your leadership,” he said.
Governor Radda described the late Sarkin Ruma of Batsari as a courageous leader who stood firmly with his people during periods of insecurity, noting that he personally regarded him as a father figure.
“He was a brave and committed leader who remained close to his people in difficult times. His legacy of courage and sacrifice must be preserved,” the Governor said.
He commended the family for the unity shown during the succession process and urged the new title holder to emulate his father’s example.
“I urge the new Sarkin Ruma to follow in his father’s footsteps—remain close to the people, serve with sincerity, and protect the interests of the community at all times,” he added.
The Governor also appreciated the Katsina Emirate Council for ensuring a smooth and peaceful conferment of the traditional titles.
“I commend the Emirate Council for conducting the process in a peaceful and dignified manner, which reflects the strength and maturity of our traditional institutions,” he said.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of Batsari Local Government, Hon. Mannir Mu’azu, said the delegation visited to express gratitude to the Governor and the traditional institution over the selection and confirmation of the new District Head.
“The decision to appoint the new Sarkin Ruma enjoyed broad support from elders, community leaders, and the business community,” he said.
He added that Batsari had recorded significant security improvements, with many bandits surrendering and embracing peace agreements.
“We have witnessed about seven months without major attacks, and economic and social activities are gradually returning to normal,” he noted. “Our people remain firmly behind the Governor’s leadership.”
Also speaking, the Chairman of Kusada Local Government, Hon. Sani Aminu Dan Gamau, thanked the Governor for his continued support to the area.
“Our visit is guided by cultural and Islamic teachings that encourage gratitude for good leadership,” he said.
He commended the Katsina Emir for approving the conferment of the Bebejin Kusada title on the son of the late holder, noting that the decision restored stability within the traditional institution.
“The decision has brought peace, stability, and renewed confidence among our people,” he said.
He assured the Governor of the people’s cooperation and appealed for continued support to the business community and local leaders.
“We will continue to work closely with the government to sustain economic growth and social stability in our communities,” he added.
