Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, yesterday launched the disbursement of N10,350,000 worth of Ramadan packages to residents of Katsina Local Government Area. The initiative is part of a humanitarian drive organized by the Maituraka Foundation, chaired by Hon. Abdulaziz Maituraka.
The packages were distributed to party officials, Ulama, traditional rulers, women, and youth groups, targeting the most vulnerable members of society.
The annual programme, which begins at the ward level before expanding to the local government, is aimed at supporting residents during the holy month of Ramadan, with plans to scale the initiative across the state in the coming years.
The event, held at Munaj Event Center, brought together top government officials, community leaders, and beneficiaries.
Governor Radda commended the Maituraka Foundation for the initiative, emphasizing its role in uplifting less privileged residents.
“This gesture demonstrates the commitment of our philanthropists to the welfare of our people. I urge beneficiaries to use this support wisely, improve their households, and reinvest in their communities,” the governor said.
He further noted that such initiatives complement the efforts of his administration to ensure that no citizen is left behind.
“I pray that Almighty Allah continues to bless Katsina with generous citizens like Hon. Abdulaziz Maituraka and supports them in extending more assistance to the needy,” Governor Radda added.
Governor Radda Encouraged the beneficiaries to maximize the impact of the packages.
“Use the resources provided for productive purposes. Expand your small businesses, uplift your families, and, where possible, support others from the gains you achieve.” he advised.
Earlier, Hon. Abdulaziz Maituraka, Chairman of the Maituraka Foundation, explained that the initiative was designed to address socio-economic needs within Katsina Local Government Area.
“We are inspired by the example of service to humanity and aim to replicate support programmes that positively impact families, youth, and women in our communities,” he stated.
In his goodwill message, Hon. Isah Miqdad Ad Saude, Chairman of Katsina Local Government, praised the foundation’s generosity and pledged continued support for Governor Radda’s vision for the state.
“We celebrate this act of giving and assure the governor of our prayers and cooperation for sustained development in Katsina,” he said.
The launch was attended by Malam Faruq Lawal, State Deputy Governor; Alhaji Musa Adamu Funtua, Commissioner of Health; and other dignitaries.
