Operatives of Katsina police command have arrested a suspected fraudster for circulating counterfeit currency.
The operatives also recovered exhibits during the operation.


The Spokesman for the command, DSP Abubakar Aliyu confirmed the development in a statement made public on Monday.
The statement read ” On 8th May, 2025, at about 1600 hrs, based on credible intelligence, the Katsina Police Command succeeded in arresting a notorious suspected fraudster, Sanusi Ahmed, male, age 25, Sokoto Rima quarters, Katsina State, who specialised in circulating counterfeit currencies.
” Upon conducting a thorough search of the suspect’s residence, situated at the above mentioned address, the following exhibits were recovered:
-Three hundred and forty-five (345) pieces of counterfeit 100 USD denomination,
- Five (5) pieces of counterfeit 10,000 CFA,
- Two (2) bottles containing suspected criminal charms,
- One (1) empty bottle of perfume, and
- One (1) piece of white cloth.


“The suspect is currently in custody as the investigation proceeds with a view to identifying and arrest his accomplice(s).”
The statement added that the state Police Commissioner, Bello Shehu, has commended the efforts of the operatives and the public for their continued support and cooperation in the ongoing fight against all forms of crime and criminality.
The Police Commissioner reportedly reaffirmed the commitment of the command towards ensuring the safety and security of the people of Katsina State.
