The Katsina State police command arrested no fewer than 302 suspects for various offences last month( July).
The Command’s spokesman,
DSP Abubakar Aliyu confirmed the development on Friday at a press conference on behalf of Police Commissioner Bello Shehu.
Aliyu gave the lowdown of the arrest thus: ” Fourteen (14) suspected armed robbers; Twenty-two (22) murder/culpable homicide suspects; Over twenty-five (25) suspected rapists;
Twenty (20) suspected vandals; two (2) suspected fraudsters; Twenty-six (26) suspected illicit drug peddlers, and,
One hundred and ninety-four (194) suspects arrested in connection with offences not mentioned above.”
The Command’s spokesman also disclosed that
fifty (50) kidnapped victims were rescued within the period under review.
Aliyu further disclosed that several exhibits were recovered in the month .
According to him, these included “One hundred ninety-nine (199) rustled animals, comprising 161 cows and 68 sheep; three (3) suspected stolen motor vehicles and,
- Two (2) suspected stolen motorcycles and quantum of illicit drugs and dried leaves suspected to be cannabis as well as large quantity of vandalised armoured cable.
The Command’s spokesman said the achievements were possible because of support from the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, Katsina State Government and the state police commissioner.
