EMPOWERMENT: Governor Radda Flags Off Programme for 600 Beneficiaries in Bindawa

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots empowerment as he officially flagged off the Bindawa Local Government Business Empowerment Programme, initiated by the Council Chairman, Alhaji Badaru Musa Giremawa.

Governor Radda made this known today at the Bindawa Local Government Secretariat, where he launched the empowerment programme that directly benefited about 600 people, including small-scale business operators, widows, youth, APC officials, and butchers.

The Items distributed under the scheme included 22 motorcycles for ward councillors, 100 sewing machines, 100 grinding machines, 100 spaghetti-making machines, and 300 butchers’ pans. In addition, each butcher received a cash grant of ₦55,000 to strengthen their businesses.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Governor Radda commended the Bindawa Council Chairman for his dedication to repositioning the local government for sustainable growth.

He assured the people that his administration would continue to strengthen local governance by ensuring full financial independence for councils, enabling them to implement meaningful development projects in their communities.

Governor Radda described empowerment as a vital tool for reducing unemployment and uplifting families. He also praised the APC leadership in Bindawa, noting that the large turnout of stakeholders at the event reflected the unity and resilience of the people.

The Governor further urged the local governments Chairmen to embrace inclusive governance, irrespective of political differences, and appealed to stakeholders to use their influence and experience to promote peace and unity in the area.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of Bindawa Local Government, Alhaji Badaru Musa Giremawa, explained that this was the seventh empowerment initiative in the area.

He detailed the distribution of 22 motorcycles, 100 sewing machines, 100 grinding machines, 100 spaghetti-making and grain-grinding machines, as well as 300 butchers’ pans.

He added that councillors representing the 11 wards, together with their party chairmen, received motorcycles, while APC women leaders benefited from sewing machines and their deputies from grinding machines.

He also noted that each of the 300 butchers received ₦50,000 alongside their meat pans to further strengthen their trade.

Alhaji Giremawa highlighted that, in addition to this initiative, his administration had earlier implemented six empowerment schemes and executed numerous development projects in the area.

He further disclosed that the APC chairman, liaison officer, media assistant, and council secretary had all been provided with official vehicles by the local government.

Delivering goodwill messages, APC Deputy State Chairman, Bala Abu Musa; APC Chairman of Bindawa, Nura Da’u Bindawa; and Chairman of Stakeholders in the area, Alhaji Isah Lawal Doro, all commended Governor Radda for ensuring that development reaches every corner of Katsina State.
