Police operatives kill 5 alleged bandits, arrest 168 suspects for various offences in katsina operations

Operatives of Katsina state police command have killed five alleged bandits and arrested 168 suspects for various offences in September operations across the state .

The Command spokesman, DSP Abubakar Aliyu made the revelation while highlighting its achievements in the month.

He spoke to newsmen in katsina on behalf of the state police Commissioner, Bello Shehu.

He said the achievements were made possible due to assistance and support of the Police Inspector General,
Kayode Egbetokun, the state police Commissioner, the state government and residents of the state.

The Command’s spokesman revealed also that the operatives were able to rescue over eighty kidnap victims and recover several exhibits among which was one CPMG during the period under review.

Aliyu gave the lowdown thus ” A total number of one hundred and sixty eight (168) suspects were arrested in connection with one hundred and five (105) reported major cases, including: Twelve (12) suspected armed robbers;
Five (5) murder/culpable homicide suspects;
Over twenty (20) suspected rapists;
Nine (9) suspected vandals;
Two (2) suspected gun runners;Three (3) for unlawful possession of firearms;
Fourteen (14) suspected illicit drug peddlers and others not captured above.”

The Police spokesman further revealed “The command has foiled several bandit attacks, neutralising five (5) suspected armed bandits and rescuing over eighty (80) kidnapped victims within the period under review.”

According to him, exhibits recovered during the period included One thousand two hundred and ninety-eight (1298) rounds of live ammunition; Four (4) cartridges; One (1) GPMG;
Two (2) AK-47 rifles;
One (1) locally fabricated gun;
One (1) dane gun;
Five (5) suspected stolen motor vehicles;
Five (5) suspected stolen motorcycles;
One thousand and ninety-six (1,096) pieces of tramadol tablets, forty-two (42) pieces of exol tablets, and wraps of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis as well as large quantity of suspected vandalised electric cables.

Aliyu added ” these achievements would not have been possible without the support of the Katsina State Government and the good people of the state. We sincerely express our deepest appreciation for their support, collaboration and assistance in our crime-fighting efforts to maintain law and order in the state.

” However, we solicit for more support and cooperation from the members of the public to enable us to further improve on these successes. We urge the public to continue reporting suspicious activities and crimes to the nearest police station or use our emergency numbers.
