Zaharaddeen Muazu Rafindadi and made available to Katsina Mirror.

According to the statement the Executive Chairman of Katsina Local Government Council, Hon. Isah Miqdad AD Saude, has called for stronger global partnerships to empower youths and unlock the vast human resource potential of Katsina Local Government.

Hon. Miqdad made the call while delivering a keynote address at the International Conference on Local Government Partnerships, organized by the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), which took place at the Marriott Hotel, Liverpool, United Kingdom, from 9th to 16th November 2025.

The conference, themed “Strengthening Local Governance through Global Partnerships for Sustainable Development,” brings together local government leaders, development experts, and international partners to exchange ideas on advancing grassroots governance and driving sustainable development through collaboration.

In his address, Hon. Miqdad emphasized that Katsina Local Government is rich in human resources, with youths forming the vast majority of its population. However, he expressed concern over the high rate of unemployment and stressed the urgent need for partnerships to provide training, retraining, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

In Katsina Local Government, our youths are our greatest asset. Unfortunately, many remain unemployed. We are therefore seeking partnerships with the national leadership of ALGON and with international partners, including the former Canadian Ambassador, to develop comprehensive youth empowerment programs focused on skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, and innovative business strategies, Hon. Miqdad stated.

“The greatest wealth the world needs today is human capital, and we have it in abundance in Katsina Local Government. What we need now are partnerships to harness it,” he added.

In response, the former Canadian Ambassador commended the Chairman for his foresight and commitment to youth development, assuring him of the readiness of his office to collaborate in bridging the gap of youth unemployment in Katsina through targeted empowerment and capacity-building initiatives.

The participation of the Katsina State ALGON delegation in the conference underscores the state’s commitment to strengthening local governance, building international partnerships, and investing in human capital development for sustainable progress.
