NOA launches security awareness campaign in Katsina border areas

The Katsina State Directorate of National Orientation Agency (NOA) has embarked on a security awareness campaign in border local government areas of the state with the aim of educating citizens on cross-border crimes and mobilizing them to complement Government efforts to end insecurity in the state and the country in
general.

The Local Governments are Jibia, Kaita, Mashi, Mai’adua, Zango and Baure.

Launching the campaign in Jibia town the State Director of the Agency, Alhaji Muntari Lawal Tsagem said criminals take advantage of festivity periods to sneak into the country especially through informal entry points of borders areas.

Such criminals he said include peddlers of illicit drugs, smugglers of illegal weapons
and hoodlums who contribute heavily to the nation’s security problem.

He said people in border areas should support the government efforts to end insecurity by reporting suspicious peoples or movement to security agencies for prompt response.

On the other hand, the State Director called on the people of the areas to be patriotic
and show respect and loyalty to their country.

He urged them to guard their children
against involvement in drug addiction and all other misbehaviors that could make them fit for recruitment by leaders of criminal groups.

Alhaji Muntari Tsagem also appealed to community and religious leaders to promote peaceful coexistence and mutual respect with their neighbors in Niger Republic.

He asked them to remain law abiding and discharge their civic responsibilities and obligations diligently.

The Director commended the state Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda for his unrelenting effort to rid Katsina state of its current security challenges.

He urged the citizens to rally round the governor in his commitment to make Katsina state great again.
