The katsina State Police Command has commenced investigation on Tuesday’s incident which resulted in the death of three of its personnel.
Two others sistained injuries in the incident.
The Spokesman for the Command, DSP Abubakar Aliyu confirmed the development in a press release on Wednesday.
Aliyu gave details of the incident, including where it happened, how it happened as well as identities of dead and injured personnel.
His words” On 27th January, 2026, at about 1244 hrs, a team of policemen on routine anti-crime patrol along Guga-Bakori were ambushed by some suspected armed hoodlums shooting sporadically.
“The officers responded bravely, repelling the attack.
” Unfortunately, 3 officers paid the supreme price during the encounter, while 2 officers sustained injuries.
” The injured officers were rushed to the nearest hospital and are responding to treatment.
“Investigations have since commenced with a view to arresting the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
“Further development will be communicated in due course please.”
