The wife of the Katsina State Governor Hajia Zulaihat Dikko Radda has urged nursing mothers to breastfeed their children exclusively for six months.
Hajia Zulaihat made the call during the 2025 international breastfeeding week held at the conference Room, First lady office Government House Katsina.
She emphasized the need for exclusive breastfeeding, and called on the ambassadors of the medical team and all the 34 local government chairmen to start from grassroot, door to door policy on the lactating mothers in their house.
In a key note address the Commissioner for health Dr Musa Adamu Funtua appreciated the gesture and pledged the Government resolve to support efforts aimed at ensuring exclusive breastfeeding.
In their separate remarks the executive secretary of primary health care development agency Dr Shamsudeen Yahaya, Mrs Roda and Dr Umar Bello spoke extensively on the importance of breastfeeding.
Highlights of the event is distribution of bags of rice, Milet, Maize, pampers, and one hundred thousand naira cash to each of the triplets mothers who were selected from different Local Government Areas.
One of the beneficiaries thanked the Government effort for supporting the triplets lactating mothers in the state.
