The Katsina State History and Culture Bureau says all preparations are in top gear for the celebration of this year’s International Hausa Day.

The Executive Director of the Bureau, Dr. Kabir Ali Masanawa, disclosed this while addressing journalists in Katsina.

According to him, the celebration will hold on August 26, 2025, featuring a variety of cultural activities aimed at showcasing the rich heritage of the Hausa people.

He said the event will commence with a traditional procession involving horses and camels from Katsina to Daura, culminating in a grand durbar.

Other highlights will include displays of Hausa music, dance, crafts, and other traditional practices.

Dr. Kabir Masanawa expressed delight at the support the Bureau has received from the Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, in promoting Hausa culture across the globe.

He also commended the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar, for providing valuable historical background on the Hausa community from its grassroots origins.

Speaking during the press briefing, one of the event’s organizers, Abdulbaki Jari, recalled that International Hausa Day was first celebrated in 2015.

He noted that the Hausa language currently ranks 11th among the most spoken languages in the world, expressing optimism that it could move up to 5th place by 2025.

This year’s celebration is expected to attract participants from across Nigeria and beyond, reinforcing efforts to preserve and promote the Hausa language, traditions, and identity on the global stage.
