Governor Radda Launches Ramadan Support Package for 1,000 Women in Katsina

  • Donates ₦5 Million to Complement Grassroots Charity Humanitarian Foundation Initiative

Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda, has inaugurated a Ramadan support package for 1,000 women in the state, organized by the Grassroots Charity Humanitarian Foundation, led by Hajiya Nasiba Umar.

The ceremony, held today at the Conference Hall of the Service to Humanity Foundation in Katsina, aimed to provide essential food items and cash assistance to vulnerable women ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.

This initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to alleviate economic hardships and enhance social welfare across the state.

In his remarks, Governor Radda announced a donation of ₦5 million to complement an additional ₦5 million already contributed by the foundation.

“We are committed to ensuring that vulnerable women in Katsina can celebrate Ramadan with dignity,” the governor stated.

He also highlighted the state government’s establishment of strategic feeding centres across Katsina to provide breakfast meals throughout Ramadan, ensuring that no one goes hungry during the fasting period.

Governor Radda commended Hajiya Nasiba Umar for her dedication to supporting women and vulnerable groups:

“Her commitment to humanitarian services is exemplary, and today’s gesture demonstrates how impactful private initiatives can be when combined with government support.”

Earlier, Hajiya Nasiba Umar, founder of the foundation, stated that each of the 1,000 women would receive 10 kilograms of millet and ₦5,000 in cash.

“This intervention is designed to cushion the economic hardship faced by women during Ramadan,” she noted.

She added that this is the second such initiative in recent times and pledged to continue deploying available resources to assist less-privileged women across the state.

Hajiya Nasiba Umar expressed gratitude to Governor Radda for his continuous support and emphasized that collaboration between government and private initiatives is key to addressing social challenges.

The event was attended by top government officials, including the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Nasir Yahya Daura; his deputy, Abduljalal Haruna Runka; and other members of the state executive Council.
