Katsina council poll: NDLEA promises INEC rancour free exercise

The katsina State Command of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency – (NDLEA) has pledged to co-operate with Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission – SIEC, to ensure rancour free Local government elections.

The Katsina State Commander of the Agency, Alh. Hassan Sani Abubakar gave the pledge when he led officials of the command on a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the commission in his office.

The State Commander explained that NDLEA has established its offices in each of the 34 local government areas in the state to control drugs supply.

He also said the visit was also meant to familiarise with the Commission and congratulate the Chairman for his appointment.

Responding, the SIEC Chairman, Alh. Lawal Alhassan thanked Katsina State Commander of the NDLEA for the visit.

Alh. Lawal Alhassan explained that the commission has already directed all contestants in the forthcoming local government elections to undergo a test with NDLEA before clearance by the commission.

He appealed to NDLEA to continue monitoring politicians, especially youth, before, during and after the elections.
