- MBASE Ministry Honours 2025 Dedicated Teachers with Merit-Based Vehicle Awards
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has announced the state government approval of 70 new secondary school to expand access, reduce congestion, and provide quality education for all children.
Governor Radda made the announcement today during the 2025 World Teachers’ Day celebration, which was postponed from last year due to scheduling constraints. He described teachers as the backbone of human capital development and the foundation of a strong and progressive society.
“I am delighted to be part of this occasion marking the 2025 World Teachers’ Day celebration. It provides us with an opportunity to reflect on and appreciate the invaluable role teachers play in shaping our society and securing the future of Katsina State,” Governor Radda stated.
“Because of the importance of this day, I considered it necessary to be personally present. I am proud to identify with you, because I am also part of the teaching family,” he added.
The Governor congratulated teachers across the state, acknowledging their dedication, resilience, and sacrifices in shaping the future of the younger generation.
The Governor noted that the state government will provide electric motorcycles to rural teachers, complementing existing rural incentive allowances for those serving in hard-to-reach communities to ease transportation challenges.
“This initiative supports our rural teachers and ensures effective service delivery in every part of the state,” he said.
Governor further emphasized that education remains the cornerstone of our administration. Sustainable development and economic progress can only be achieved through a sound education system driven by dedicated and motivated teachers.
He disclosed that the 2026 budget allocates a significant share to the education sector to improve infrastructure, teachers’ welfare, learning materials, and overall service delivery.
“In addition to new schools, we are embarking on massive rehabilitation of existing facilities to create a conducive environment for teaching and learning,” he added.
Governor Radda stressed that no nation can rise above the quality of its teachers, noting that educators are the architects of character, discipline, innovation, and leadership in society.
“Our administration has placed teachers at the heart of our education reforms because investing in teachers is investing in the future of Katsina State,” he said.
The Governor revealed that over 7,000 qualified teachers were recruited in the last exercise to address shortages in primary and secondary schools, with plans underway for another round of recruitment.
“This will improve the student–teacher ratio and ensure effective learning delivery across the state,” he explained.
Governor Radda further announced plans to establish Teachers’ Development Centres in each of the three senatorial zones to provide continuous professional training, mentoring, and skill enhancement.
“Education is dynamic, and our teachers must continuously upgrade their skills to meet global standards. These centres will serve as hubs for capacity development across the state,” he added.
Earlier, Hon. Yusuf Suleiman Jibia, Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, explained that the awardees were selected through a transparent, merit-based process considering classroom performance, dedication, innovation, community service, and overall impact.
He commended Governor Radda’s commitment to teacher welfare, infrastructure, training, and policy reforms.
Also Speaking, Permanent Secretary MBASE Ministry, Hajiya Ummulkhairi called for sustained collaboration to strengthen the education sector, assuring teachers of continued support for their professional development. Community leaders, parents, and school associations, including ANCOPSS Katsina, praised the government’s focus on teacher welfare and recognition of excellence.
In the same vein, Alhaji Sada Mohammed Sada, Chairman of the Parents–Teachers Association and District Head of Dutsinma, expressed appreciation on behalf of parents and community leaders for the government’s support of education and recognition of hardworking teachers.
Hon Lawal Jibrin, President of ANCOPSS Katsina, commended the Ministry for organizing the ceremony, noting that the recognition would inspire greater commitment, professionalism, and innovation among teachers and school leaders.
In goodwill messages, Dr. Kabir Magaji, Executive Chairman of SUBEB, praised teachers for shaping minds and building character, while lauding the government’s focus on teacher welfare and development.
Similarly, Alhaji Sada Muhammad Sada, Executive Chairman of the Teachers Service Board, highlighted the recruitment of over 7,000 teachers, staff promotions, and the engagement of specialist teachers, urging educators to remain dedicated, professional, and patriotic.
In recognition of outstanding service, the MBASE Ministry honoured 2025 dedicated teachers with merit-based vehicle awards and provided essential learning materials to teachers and schools.
The event was attended by key government officials, including Head of Civil Service Alhaji Falalu Bawale, Chief of Staff Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, Principal Private Secretary Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji, Hon Grandhi khadi; members of the State Executive Council, and business community leaders.
