Governor Radda Launches Phase 10 of Gwagware Foundation Ramadan Empowerment

  • Foundation Establishes College of Advanced Studies, Partners with FUDMA and IIIT to Enhance Educational Opportunities – Chairman Discloses

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has launched Phase 10 of the Gwagware Foundation Ramadan Empowerment Programme, describing the foundation as a vital partner in humanitarian and empowerment efforts across the state.

The launch took place today at the foundation’s headquarters in Katsina, providing support to the poor, widows, orphans, and other vulnerable groups ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, ensuring social welfare initiatives reach all 361 wards across the state.

In his address, Governor Radda noted that the Gwagware Foundation has grown significantly over the years, attributing its success to divine blessings and the dedication of its members and supporters.

“For about ten years, the foundation has consistently carried out its humanitarian programmes without interruption, focusing on assisting widows, orphans, and the less privileged across communities,” Governor Radda said.

He highlighted that the foundation’s reach and impact have expanded, with many local government chairmen now actively participating as members and supporters of its initiatives.

Governor Radda emphasized his personal commitment to the foundation, noting that he remains a proud grand patron and continues to support its objectives and programmes.

He also commended the foundation’s partnership with Salson Designers, stating that the collaboration will create new opportunities for skills development, vocational training, and resource mobilisation across the state.

“The government and the foundation will work to extend the Salson partnership to all local government areas, ensuring that more youths and women benefit from economic empowerment and skills development programmes,” he added.

Governor Radda thanked members of the foundation and community supporters who have contributed to the construction of classrooms, lecture halls, and other educational facilities under the foundation’s initiatives.

He announced that the foundation will distribute Ramadan food packages to all wards across Katsina State, guaranteeing that vulnerable households receive essential support during the fasting period.

Earlier, Chairman of the Gwagware Foundation, Alhaji Yusuf Aliyu Musawa, emphasized the significance of the 10th Ramadan Programme, marking a decade of support to orphans, widows, and vulnerable communities.

Musawa highlighted that the foundation now focuses on education, women empowerment, and youth vocational skills training, noting opportunities created under Governor Radda’s administration, including employment, appointments, and Hajj slots for members.

The 10th Ramadan Programme include food distribution to orphans and the needy across all wards, as well as recognition of 506 APC delegates from the party primaries.

He disclosed that the foundation established the Nana Safara’u Umar Radda College of Advanced Studies, featuring modern teaching materials, an e-library, and smart classrooms, with partnerships with FUDMA and IIIT to boost educational quality and opportunities.

Also speaking, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, described the gathering as important, noting that the turnout showed strong community support and confidence in the foundation’s programmes.

He also highlighted the state government’s commitment to partnering with local contractors and entrepreneurs to boost economic activity and employment.

In the same vein, CEO of Salson Designers, Anas Salisu, praised the Gwagware Foundation for empowering youth and women in Katsina through skills development.

The partnership focuses on vocational training in sewing and fashion, providing industrial machines and hands-on experience.

“The program teaches entrepreneurship, branding, and business ethics, enabling participants to build sustainable livelihoods, while Salson Designers continues to provide mentorship, training, and support for economic growth and community stability,” Salisu added.

Speaker Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura described the event as a joyful milestone marking the foundation’s 10th empowerment programme.

Similarly, former chairmen, Hajiya Binta Dangani, Hon Amoga, commended the leadership and called for continued community and stakeholder support.

The event was attended by; Sarkin Mudurun Katsina, Alhaji Abubakar Dardisu, Members of Katsina state executive Council; local government Chairmen; traditional leaders; stakeholders, Business community leaders.
