Governor Radda Welcomes Opposition Members Who Defect to APC in Funtua Zone

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, today received card-carrying members of opposition parties who stormed Government House to announce their decision to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and work together for the growth and development of the state.

The new entrants, drawn from the PDP, Action Alliance, PRP, PDM, and other political parties, cut across three local government areas Funtua, Bakori, and Dandume.

Those who returned to the APC included former governorship candidates, members of the House of Representatives, past local government chairmen, former party leaders, ex-councilors, and even some excos.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Radda emphasized that political unity was essential for consolidating democratic gains and driving meaningful development. He noted that Katsina had not experienced the level of political harmony now being recorded in the Funtua zone for many years.

The Governor directed APC leaders to fully integrate the new members into party activities and to allow influential figures among the decampees to assume leadership roles. He further appealed to stakeholders to strengthen inclusiveness at all levels.

Governor Radda particularly commended Senator Muntari Dandutse, Commissioner for Health Dr. Musa Adamu Funtua, and other notable personalities whose efforts and consultations influenced the wave of defections. He urged other APC stakeholders across the state to emulate their example.

Earlier in his remarks, Senator Mintari Mohammed Dandutse explained that extensive consultations undertaken by stakeholders in the zone accounted for the large turnout of defectors.

He stressed that the new members were satisfied with Governor Radda leadership and were ready to work with his administration in developing Katsina State.

Speaking earlier, the State Chairman of APC, Alhaji Sani Aliyu Daura, said the purposeful leadership style of Governor Radda was the major reason behind the defections.

He assured the new members that they would be treated fairly and equally, directing local government party chairmen to immediately register them and engage them fully in all party activities.

Several influential figures from PDP, PRP, and Action Alliance also spoke at the event, declaring their decision to join APC. They cited Governor Radda’s seriousness and commitment to the state’s development as the key reason for their defection.

Those in attendance at the event included the Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, Abdullah Aliyu Turaji; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Abdulkadir Mammam Nasir; APC Public Relations Officer, Shamsu Sule Funtua; among other political figures, business community leaders, and party members.
