The Youth Action for Local Development (YALD) Project Team recently paid an advocacy visit to the Katsina State Development Management Board (KSDM) to discuss the project, implemented in partnership with LEAP Africa under the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund.
The team, led by Program Officer Umar A. Jibril, visited the board for a formal introduction of the project and explored potential areas of collaboration to achieve its goals. The Katsina State Development Management Board (KSDM) was established to coordinate the activities of development partners in the state and provide support in areas of mutual interest.
The Project Team was warmly received by the Executive Secretary, Dr. Mustapha Shehu, who appreciated the team for the visit and assured them of the board’s ample support for the project, especially in reaching out to local governments and other key stakeholders. He made a strong commitment to actively participate in the project where necessary.
Umar A. Jibril provided an overview of the project and highlighted some of its key activities, including supporting local governments to develop and implement youth development agendas and strengthen local governance across the 34 LGAs of the state.
The Program Officer expressed appreciation to the Executive Secretary for granting the team an audience and for the warm reception. The team looks forward to a potential partnership to promote good governance and youth participation across Katsina State’s 34 Local Governments through the YALD Project.
The YALD Project is a testament to the power of youth engagement and participation in driving progressive development in Nigeria. We are excited about the prospects of working with the Katsina State Development Management Board to achieve our shared goals.
