Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has joined the global community in celebration of International Women’s Day 2026. The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the growth, dignity and economic freedom of women across the state.
Governor Radda said investing in women is investing in society. He pledged that his administration will continue to back that belief with concrete action.
“When you give to women, the whole society gains. That is the meaning of this year’s theme — Give To Gain. And in Katsina, we are not just saying it. We are doing it,” Governor Radda stressed.
The Governor also recounted investment in women-focused programmes, noting that in January 2026, the Building Your Future administration empowered 14,450 women drawn from all 34 Local Government Areas. Each woman received support tailored to her trade — tools, equipment, grinding machines, deep freezers, poultry birds, feeds, grains, tailoring kits, cosmetics and cash.
“Two weeks before that, 1,000 adolescent girls received support under the same agenda. In 2025, over 36,000 women across the state benefited from various empowerment programmes,” the governor added.
At the “Where Influence Meets Investment” Summit in January, Governor Radda announced an additional ₦500 million set aside specifically for women entrepreneurs — to grow their businesses, build their skills and expand their markets.
“Katsina State has also committed ₦4 billion in its 2026 budget as counterpart funding for the Federal Government’s Nigeria for Women Project, one of the largest women’s economic programmes in the country,” Governor Radda declared.
He assured that his administration will not stop at giving out equipment and cash to enable every woman in Katsina have the skills, the space and the support to build something that lasts.
On this International Women’s Day, Governor Radda called on women across Katsina State to hold their heads high and make use of every opportunity his administration continues to provide.
Governor Radda wished all women in Katsina State and across the world a happy International Women’s Day.
