Troops rescue victims after 46 days in captivity

Troops of Combat Team 3 stationed in Maraban Maigora, Katsina State have rescued 10 women and six minors who had been held in captivity by bandits since February 2024.

A credible source from the military disclosed that the victims were rescued on Monday, 18, March 2024, during a routine patrol at the Rimi community after being held for 46 days by the hoodlums.

According to the military officer, the rescued victims were among the 54 women abducted along Gamji-Dandume road in early February 2024

It was further revealed that the rescued women and children were promptly handed over to the Chairman of Sabuwa Local Government Area, who in turn reunited them with their relatives.

Governor, Dikko Radda, in his reaction to the development, commended the troops for their bravery and decisive action.

The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Mohammed who confirmed the development, said the state chief executive reassured the public of his administration’s unwavering commitment in eradicating banditry within the state.

Radda said, “The rescue of these women and children is a testament to the courage and dedication of our security forces. We remain committed to providing them with the resources and support they need to ensure the safety of residents in the state.”
