Singer, Portable sets to release new record after controversial detention over car deal

Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, is back in the studio after his release from police custody following disagreement with car dealer over failed debt payment for his G-Wagon SUV.

The singer, on Thursday, shared a poster of soon-to-be released new song titled “Spiderman”.

 The title of the song may not be unconnected with Portable’s rare agility when he attempted at escaping Police arrest by jumping over an iron gate before he was eventually arrested.

The arrest incident captured in a viral video that circulated on Tuesday, showed the singer scaling a gate before taking to his heels.

After spending 24 hours in custody, the “Zazuu” crooner regained his freedom after meeting the bail conditions set for his freedom.

It would be recalled  that the Lgos State police command arrested singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, over failure to settle a debt he incurred when he bought a G-Wagon from a state auto dealer.

Based on reports, during the N27 million car transaction, Mr. Portable allegedly paid only N13 million and refused to pay the remaining N14 million.

It was alleged that whenever the car dealer contacted him to pay the balance, he usually claimed that the vehicle was bad. When efforts to get Portable to pay the balance proved abortive, the car dealer reported the matter to the police and policemen detailed to investigate the case and arrested Portable.
