The Katsina Police Command, under the leadership of CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, has succeeded in thwarting a kidnapping attempt, rescuing a kidnapped victim, and neutralising a suspected notorious bandits’ kingpin.
The Command spokesman, ASP Abubakar Aliyu explained that on May 28, 2024, at about 05.45 a.m information was received at the Dandume Divisional Police Headquarters that bandits in their numbers, wielding dangerous weapons, in an attempt to kidnap unsuspecting commuters, blocked the Dandume-Sabuwa Road.
He added that upon the receipt of the report, the DPO Dandume, SP Emmanuel Zangina, in collaboration with the military, mobilised a team of operatives to the scene.
According to him, the team engaged the bandits in a fierce gun duel, successfully thwarting the kidnapping attempt and rescuing one kidnapped victim. The rescued victim was rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
“In the course of scanning the scene, the body of one neutralised suspected bandit was recovered from the scene,” Aliyu confirmed.
He further explained that during the course of investigation, the body of the neutralised suspected bandit was identified as one Auwalu Mahaukaci, a suspected notorious bandits’ kingpin terrorising Dandume LGA and its environs.
“The CP, while commending the operatives for their exceptional display of bravery and gallantry, reiterated the command’s commitment towards ensuring the safety and security of the good people of the state”,Aliyu said.
