Katsina State Governor Mal Dikko Umar Radda has officially lighted the ‘Torch of Unity’ signaling the participation of the Katsina state at the upcoming National Sports Festival, Ogun 2025.
Mal Dikko Umar Radda lighted the ‘Torch of Unity’ at the government house Katsina when he receives delegation from the National Sports Commission who are in Katsina to present the ‘light of unity’ as customary before the commencement of the national sports festival.
Addressing the delegation shortly after receiving the ‘Torch of Unity’, the Governor expressed gratitude for witnessing the historic day.
Mal Dikko Umar Radda noted that Katsina State Government will fully participate at the 2025 National Sports Festival which is to be held in Ogun State.
The Governor who described the national sports festival as the only forum uniting the youths across the nation, saying the event is assisting greatly in taking youths away from drug abuse and other social vices.
He therefore used the visit to speak on his administration’s commitment towards promoting sporting activities in the State.
Part of this according to him include the establishment of State own football academy that facilitated some Katsina state youths’ travel to Qatar, Italy and France.
The Governor also restated his administration’s determination to continue initiating more developmental programs aimed at uplifting the standard of sporting activities in the State.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Mrs Mbora Ikana, said they were in Katsina to present the torch of unity to the People of Katsina State following the formal flag off by the Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the 25th of March this year.
Mrs Mbora Ikana noted that presenting the ‘Torch of Unity’ to the State Government signifies the official invitation of Katsina State to participate at the upcoming National Sports Festival in Ogun State.
Mrs Mbora Ikana pointed out that the ‘Torch of unity’ signifies unity and peace of the nation as sports is the only better way to harness unity among the teeming population in the country.
The national sports festival tagged, ‘Gateway games’ is scheduled to hold between 15th to 30th of May 2025 in Ogun State.
