Nasarawa State Police has found five children lifeless inside an abandoned car park in a residential compound in Agyaragu community, Obi local government area.
The State Police Public Relations Officer SP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Lafia, the state capital.
The statement explained that one Mr. Ozimna Ogbor, a friend of the late father of two of the deceased children, reported the incident to the Agyragu Divisional Police Office after the children were discovered unresponsive inside the car near his residence.
Upon receiving the report, The State Police Commissioner CP, Shattima Mohammed, has ordered a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and has called for calm in the community.
The statement also referenced a similar incident that occured in Keffi in August 2017, where two children died in comparable conditions.
It urged parents and car owners to remain vigilant and ensure that children are not left unattended around parked vehicles.
The children died due to the severe heat-induced skin burns the children suffered, meanwhile, the bodies had been released to their families for burial upon request.
