The Katsina State Government has commended the gallant troops of the Nigerian Army following a successful operation at Baba in Kankara Local Government Area, where seven armed bandits were neutralized and four motorcycles recovered.
This was contained in a press statement signed by Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs Dr. Nasir Mu’azu and made available to Katsina Mirror.
The statement explained that the encounter, which lasted for over two hours on Thursday, August 21, 2024, was carried out after credible intelligence revealed the movement of criminal elements terrorizing farming communities in the area.
Acting swiftly, troops engaged the bandits in a decisive operation, neutralizing seven of them while the rest fled with gunshot wounds. Four motorcycles used for their operations were also recovered during the mission.
This success comes as part of the ongoing military operations across frontline local government areas aimed at dismantling criminal hideouts and restoring peace for farming activities during this rainy season.
The Katsina State Government, through the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, acknowledges the courage and professionalism of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies working tirelessly to protect the people of the state.
As Government, we remain committed to supporting security agencies with logistics, intelligence sharing, and community-based collaborations to sustain the momentum against banditry. We assure citizens that every effort is being made to secure lives and livelihoods across Katsina State.
We call on residents, particularly in rural communities, to continue providing timely information to security agencies to aid ongoing operations.
Together, we will defeat these criminal elements and restore lasting peace to our state.
