The Best Intelligence Officer of the Nigerian Police — Says Gov. Radda
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and former Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Solomon Ehigiator Arase, who died on Saturday, 31st August 2025, at the age of 69.
In a condolence message, Governor Radda described the late Arase as a patriotic officer and reform-minded leader who dedicated his life to strengthening the Nigerian Police Force and upholding the rule of law.
“Solomon Arase was not only a seasoned police officer but also a symbol of professionalism and integrity. From his days at the Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Bureau, to his tenure as Inspector-General of Police, and later as Chairman of the Police Service Commission, he bore the weight of national duty with wisdom and dignity,” the Governor said.
Governor Radda further noted that Arase’s service to Nigeria went beyond the uniform, as he continued to contribute to security reform, peacebuilding, and legal practice even after retirement, mentoring a new generation of leaders in public service.
“His passing is not just a loss to his family and the law enforcement community, but to the entire nation that benefitted from his courage, intellect, and unwavering commitment to justice. Nigeria has indeed lost a rare gem,” the Governor added.
On behalf of the Government and people of Katsina State, Governor Radda extended his condolences to the Arase family, the Nigeria Police Force, the Police Service Commission and all Nigerians mourning this great loss.
“May his legacy of service to country and humanity continue to inspire us all,” he prayed.
