The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Katsina State Council heartily felicitates with the government and people of Katsina state on the auspicious occassion of the 38th Anniversary of the state’s creation.
This is contained in a press statement signed by Katsina State Chairman Comrade Tukur Haussa Dan Ali and made available to Katsina Mirror.
The statement explained that the landmark is indeed a moment of celebration and sober reflection; celebration of the giant strides achieved in the last 38 years and reflection on how best to surmount contemporary challenges.
We particularly congratulate and commend the state governor, His Excellency Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, Ph.D, for his patriotism and foresight which have made it possible for his administration to place the state on a path to sustainable development through careful planning and steady execution.
His ‘Building Your Future Agenda’ which is based on sound academic research and professional counsel, has made its mark on key sectors of the state’s economy with particular emphasis on security, education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, environment and enterprise development.
On our part, we will commemorate the occasion with a public lecture on the theme ‘Democracy and Developmental Journalism: A Case Study of Northern Nigeria’, which aims to set agenda for policy makers and other key players in the media industry on the need to become active agents and advocates for development.
His Excellency, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the event while the Wazirin Ilimin Kasar Hausa, Prof. Sani Abubakar Lugga, will chair the occasion as the NUJ National President, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, will serve as the Guest of Honour.
The public lecture which is scheduled to hold at Al-Hayatt Regency Suites in Katsina at ten in the morning on Tuesday 30th September, will feature Dr. Bishir Usman Ruwangodiya as Guest speaker alongside a panel of discussants that will do justice to the topic.
As we invite members of the pen profession, academics, public office holders, the business community, professionals from every walks of life and members of the public to the lecture, we once again wish the people of Katsina State ‘Happy 38th Anniversary’ of state creation!
