Katsina Professional match fracas: Police Command sets record straight, warns mischief makers

The katsina state police command has set the record straight on recent fracas during one of Professional Football matches in the state capital.

The Command in a statement by its spokesman, DSP Abubakar Aliyu warned mischief makers to always verify information before feeding members of public.

Aliyu said ” The Katsina State Police Command is aware of reports circulating on social media suggesting that Nana Abraham, a professional football player of Barau FC, was slaughtered by fan(s) of Katsina United FC during their recent NPFL Week 12 away match at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina.

“This report is entirely false, mischievous, and a calculated attempt to breach the relative peace being enjoyed in the state. Nana Abraham is safe and accounted for.

“Preliminary investigations reveal that all players, staff, and officials involved in the match are safe as there was no report of physical contact between fans and players, staff, or officials before, during, or after the match, thanks to adequate security arrangements.

” Moreover, the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has investigated the incidents related to the match, listed out offences committed by the home team, Katsina United FC, and sanctioned them accordingly. Notably, there was no report of a football player’s death.

” Therefore, the Command uses this medium to warn mischief makers to desist from propagating and peddling false information, as doing so is an offence punishable by law. We will not hesitate to track down and prosecute anyone found guilty of spreading false information liable to cause a breach of public peace.

“Also, we urge the public to rely on verified sources of information and disregard this unsubstantiated report.

“The Katsina State Command under the able leadership of CP Bello Shehu, psc, fdc, MNIM, remains committed towards ensuring the safety and security of life and property throughout the state.”
