Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has assured his administration’s commitment to sustaining strong partnerships with development partners to address humanitarian challenges and improve the welfare of vulnerable populations.
Governor Radda stated this when he received a delegation from the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) led by its Team Lead, Mr. Alexandre, on a courtesy visit to Government House, Katsina.
The Governor expressed profound appreciation to ECHO and its consortium of implementing partners for their interventions across various Local Government Areas, particularly in nutrition, food security and humanitarian response.
He commended the partners for complementing government efforts and working closely with state institutions to deliver impact where it is most needed.
Governor Radda assured the delegation that his administration will continue to provide the necessary funding and institutional support to sustain successful interventions, stressing that government resources and donor support must complement each other to achieve inclusive and sustainable development.
Earlier, in his remarks, the ECHO Team Lead, Mr. Alexandre, commended Governor Radda for his purposeful leadership and for prioritizing the needs of vulnerable populations in the governance agenda of the state.
Mr. Alexandre applauded the administration for creating an enabling environment for development partners to operate effectively and for demonstrating strong political ownership through counterpart and matching funding that in some instances exceeds donor commitments.
According to him, Katsina State’s commitment significantly enhances the sustainability of interventions beyond the lifespan of donor-funded projects.
Mr. Alexandre reaffirmed ECHO’s commitment to continue supporting Katsina State in critical areas of nutrition, food security, humanitarian assistance, resilience building and institutional capacity strengthening, noting that sustained collaboration remains essential to responding effectively to vulnerable communities.
The courtesy visit was facilitated by the Katsina State Development Management Board (KTDMB) as part of ECHO’s mission to monitor and assess ongoing humanitarian interventions implemented by its partners across the state.
