The Emir of Daura, HRH Alhaji Faruq Umar Faruq, has turbaned the first lady of Katsina State, Hajia Zulaihat Dikko Radda, as the first Jagaban Matan Hausa.
The colourful ceremony took place at the Emir’s palace shortly after the Hawan Magajiya, popularly known as Sallar Gani.
Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda attended the historic event alongside the state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Sani Aliyu Daura, and several female traditional title holders who thronged the palace in solidarity with the new title holder.
While presenting the letter of appointment and decorating the governor’s wife with traditional attire, the Emir said the title was bestowed on Hajia Zulaihat in recognition of her commitment to supporting women, particularly in empowerment initiatives.
Alhaji Faruq Umar described the title as the first of its kind given to a governor’s wife, noting her dedication to supporting not only women but men as well.
The Jagaban Matan Hausa title represents an unprecedented honour for the First Lady, acknowledging her contributions to community development and gender empowerment in the state.
The ceremony attracted dignitaries and traditional title holders who came to witness the historic occasion and show support for the newly turbaned Jagaban Matan Hausa.
