In continuation of the 70‑Year Celebration of Women in Policing, Katsina Command conducted two key activities: a visit to Women Teachers College, Katsina, for a career talk encouraging female students to join the police, and a 5 km awareness walk on Gender‑Based Violence (GBV) to sensitise the community.
This is contained in a press statement signed by Police Public Relation Officer Katsina State Police Command DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, and made available to Katsina Mirror.
During the college visit, officers highlighted the diverse roles, promotional opportunities, and challenges faced by women in the Nigeria Police Force, shared personal experiences, and answered students’ questions, inspiring the young women present.
The 5 km GBV awareness walk proceeded through major streets of Katsina, attracting students, civil society organisations, market vendors, and residents, all chanting slogans and distributing IEC materials that emphasised prevention, reporting mechanisms, and support services for survivors.
The principal of Women Teachers College commended the visiting officers for their insightful session, noting that the interaction had broadened the students’ perspectives and sparked enthusiasm for law‑enforcement careers. She pledged the college’s continued support to police‑community initiatives and offered facilities for future engagements.
The Katsina Police Command reaffirms its commitment to gender equality, community safety, and youth empowerment and will sustain such engagements to foster trust and collaboration between police and citizens.
