Katsina police command records 123 cases, seeks residents’ support in crime prevention

The Katsina State police command is seeking the cooperation of residents in tackling crimes in the state as it recorded no fewer than 123 cases last month( November).

The Command’s spokesman, DSP Abubakar Aliyu made the appeal on behalf of Police Commissioner, Bello Shehu at a press conference in katsina.

He was highlighting the achievements of the command in the month.

According to him, the Command tackled 5 major crimes in the month.

He also gave number of suspects arrested in connection with the crimes thus:” Armed Robbery: 22 suspects arrested; Culpable Homicide/Murder: 7 suspects arrested; Being in possession of counterfeit currency: 4 suspects; Rape/Unnatural offence: 20 suspects arrested; Being In Possession of Illicit Drugs: 10 suspects arrested.”

The Command spokesman added ” Out of these cases reported, one hundred and eight (108) have been charged to court, as fifteen (15) cases are currently under investigation, within the period under review.

“In the course of our operations, we have succeeded in recovering the following exhibits:
3 AK-47 rifle;
24 rounds of live ammunition;
183 rounds of live ammunition;
4 motor vehicles (1 Toyota Corolla, 2 golf vehicles, and 1 Peugeot);
32 suspected rustled animals comprising 23 cows, 9 sheep, etc;
131 illicit drugs (212,100 pieces of Exol tablets, 3,720 tramadol tablet, 67 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis);
50 meters of vandalized high tension cables, among other exhibits.”

“Despite these modest achievements, more work needs to be done. We pledge to redouble our efforts and commit to building on these successes to make Katsina State an even safer place for all. We will continue to work tirelessly to protect and serve the community, and we call on all stakeholders to join us in this fight against crime.

“We wish to express our gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police for his unwavering support and guidance, which has been instrumental in our successes.

“We equally appreciate the State Government for its continued support and cooperation, which has helped us to effectively combat crime and ensure a safer environment for all residents of Katsina State.

“We appreciate the members of the public for their support and cooperation in our efforts to fight crime in Katsina State. We solicit your continued support and encourage you to keep providing us with information that will help us prevent and solve crimes.”
