The Katsina State Government has declared Tuesday, June 16, 2026, as a public holiday to commemorate the commencement of the Islamic New Year, 1st Muharram 1448 After Hijra.
Governor Radda made the declaration saying it is “to enable Muslim faithful in the state to observe the day with prayers and reflection.”
The governor further urged citizens to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity, and progress in Katsina State and Nigeria at large. He also called on residents to remain law-abiding and continue to support government efforts at building a more secure and prosperous state.
He concluded that all public offices, schools, and government institutions are expected to remain closed on the day, while essential services will operate as usual.
