Operatives of Katsina police command have rescued two victims who had earlier been abducted in Kankia Local Government Area of the State.
The victims are Rukayya Yahaya, female, 20 years old
and Sahura Abdulhadi, female, 22 years old; both of the same address.
The operatives also foiled cattle rustling in Charanchi Local Government Area.
The Command’s spokesman, ASP Abubakar Aliyu confirmed the development.
Aliyu explained “The Katsina State Police Command wishes to inform the general public of two successful operational breakthroughs resulting in the rescue of two kidnapped victims in Kankia Local Government Area and the foiling of a cattle rustling attempt in Charanchi LGA.
” On July 11, 2026, at about 11:45 AM, a distress call was received by the Kankia Divisional Police Headquarters stating that a group of armed bandits, riding on three motorcycles and armed with dangerous weapons, had attacked Jauga settlement in Sabon Gida Village, Kankia LGA.
” Upon receipt of the information, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Kankia swiftly mobilised operatives to the scene.
” On arrival, the team engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel. Overpowered by the superior firepower of the police operatives, the bandits fled the scene into the nearby bush with suspected gunshot wounds, abandoning their victims.
“Two kidnapped victims were successfully rescued unhurt”
” Similarly, in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on proactive policing, the Command successfully foiled an attempted attack and cattle rustling incident by suspected armed bandits in Charanchi Local Government Area.
” Today, July 13, 2026, at about 10:00 AM, a report was received at the Charanchi Divisional Police Headquarters that armed bandits had attacked Majen Waya Village, Charanchi LGA, with the intent to rustle cattle.
” The DPO Charanchi immediately mobilised an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) patrol team to the scene.
” The team engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel, effectively foiling the cattle rustling attempt. The bandits fled into the bush with suspected bullet wounds.
” Thankfully, no lives were lost, and no cattle were rustled during the incident. Normalcy has since been restored to the area, and aggressive tactical patrols are ongoing.”
The Command added that efforts are being intensified to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
The statement further revealed ” The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Ali Umar Fage, highly commends the gallantry and prompt response of the operatives. He reassures the good citizens of Katsina State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property.
” Members of the public are earnestly urged to continue partnering with the police by providing timely and credible information for prompt and decisive action.”
