Police arrest 1, recover 50 rustled domestic animals as it foils cattle rustling

The Katsina State Police Command has foiled a cattle rustling attempt, arrested a suspected cattle rustler, and recovered fifty (50) rustled animals.

The Spokesman for the Command, DSP Abubakar Aliyu confirmed the development in public statement in Katsina on Sunday.

Aliyu gave details thus” On September 12, 2026, at about 7:30 PM, a distress call was received from a good Samaritan reporting that suspected armed bandits, equipped with dangerous weapons, had attacked Kwarara Village, Jibia LGA, and rustled livestock.

” Upon receipt of the report, the DPO Jibia swiftly mobilized a VCRU Patrol Team along with the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) and responded to the scene.

” The team tactically traced and intercepted the armed bandits along the Jibia Dam Site, where a gun duel ensued.
Due to superior firepower from the police team, the bandits were forced to abandon the rustled animals and escaped the scene with varying degrees of gunshot injuries.

” During the search of the scene, one (1) suspected cattle rustler, identified as Ibrahim, alias “Daura” (male, 22 years old), was arrested. A total of 50 rustled animals, comprising fifteen (15) cows and thirty-five (35) sheep, were successfully recovered.

” The suspect is currently in custody, assisting the investigation to track down and arrest the fleeing members of the syndicate.

” The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Ali Umar Fage commends the DPO Jibia and his tactical team for their exceptional display of gallantry and prompt response.

” He reiterates the Command’s resolve to rid the state of criminal elements and urges members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the command.”
