Presidential election collation agent of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Katsina State, Dr. Lawal Badamasi Charanchi, has described the victory of the party’s flag bearer, Bola Tinubu, in the February 25 polls as another success story in the history of politics.
Dr. Charanchi, member of the APC campaign team, said Tinubu’s success should also be counted as victory for APC faithful and the people of the state that voted massively for the ruling party.
His words: “We got 45.5 per cent out of the total vote cast and PDP got 46.1 per cent. So, the margin is not much because we got about 488,283 votes and while they got 489,045. It is a good case; we got the required percentage we needed.”
Reacting yesterday to the victory of Tinubu, in an interview with Katsina Mirror, he declared: “This is another success story in a state where we have three senators emerging under our party in the recent elections and we also have about nine members of the House of Representatives-elect into the National Assembly.”
Dr. Charanchi, an associate professor and commissioner for education in the state, further described Tinubu’s triumph as a good development that would add colour to the emergence of Katsina APC gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Dikko Umar Radda, as winner in the March 11 general elections.
On the unfolding reactions to the presidential poll result, he said the mood in Katsina is fine, adding that the people are happy over the emergence of Asiwaju as the President-elect.
“If you have nine members of the House of Representatives and three senators from a state that are of the same party as the President-elect, that is a majority; it means the majority of people in Katsina want representatives in the National Assembly that will work with Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu. So, people are happy.
“We are very happy with this result. Indeed, you can see rejoicing in my smiles, you can see rejoicing all over me that Asiwaju is the one we voted for and by God’s grace he will be the next President.”
