The fireworks over the outcome of last Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly Elections are far from abating as embattled Katsina State Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Shitu Shu’aibu Shitu, has resigned from the post.

The resignation came on the heels of the suspension slammed on him and the state APC legal adviser, Umar Wagini, over alleged anti-party activities.

In his resignation letter dated February 27, 2023, addressed to the state APC chairman, Sani Ali Ahmed, he said he intended to quit the office with immediate effect.

“I wish to therefore seize this opportunity to express my profound gratitude for the singular honour given to me to offer my humble and modest contributions in serving the APC at various capacities particularly the exalted positions of the chairman and secretary,” the letter read in part.

Shitu and Wagini were to face an investigative panel set up by the State Working Committee over the allegations against them but it could not be established if Shitu had dumped the party or only his office as at press time on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
