*Receives rousing farewell, parting gifts
In recent times, probably no rousing reception like this has been accorded any August visitor in Daura, hometown of President Muhammad Buhari.
It was an occasion many believed attested to the plan of Daura traditional institution to warmly appreciate the support and commitment of the State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, to the progress across Daura Emirate and success of its people.
The Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar, and his emirate council, on Thursday played host to Gov Masari as part of the activities to mark the handing over of the mantle of leadership of the state to the incoming governor, Dr. Dikko Umar Radda, on May 29, 2023.
Paying tribute to the Gov Masari in his palace, Alhaji Umar praised the achievements recorded by Masari’s administration in the last eight years.
The monarch said the legacies of Masari led government in the emirate and the state are worth being celebrated by the people irrespective of political affiliation.
His words: “You’re more than what people say about you because you’re leaving unforgettable legacies that generation will still remember.
“No governor has left legacies as you but I pray the governor – elect will achieve more than what you have done as governor. You Excellency’s infrastructural development in Daura Zone is beyond measure.
“We in Daura Emirate heartily say thank you. We are aware of all the developmental projects and programmes you brought to us.”
Addressing the council, Gov Masari expressed gratitude that despite the security and other challenges confronted by his administration, the government has a good story to tell due to the support, prayers and commitment of Katsina people.
The governor said the farewell visit underscored his appreciation over the cooperation and contributions of traditional rulers and citizens of the state to the success story of his eight year administration.
Masari also stressed the need for all to accord the incoming government an unflinching support for delivery of projects, programmes and policies with direct impact on people of the state and beyond.
Highlights of the visit included prayers for his success in future endeavours and presentation of two bulls and farm implements among others from the agrarian emirate to the governor.
