Man, 20, in police net for attempted culpable homicide, alleged armed robbery

Operatives of the katsina State Police Command have arrested a 20- year old man, Adam Ibrahim Tama for suspected armed robbery and attempted culpable homicide.

The police said the suspect allegedly committed the offences on 22, June 2026.

The spokesman for the Command, DSP Abubakar Aliyu gave details of the incident and the arrest in a statement made public in katsina .

His words” On June 22, 2026, at about 3:46 pm, one Hajiya Jamila Ibrahim Tama, ‘f,’ aged 40, reported at the Sabon Gari Division that on the same date at about 3:23 pm, her younger brother, the suspect, attacked and robbed her biological daughter, one Fatima Nura Lawal, ‘f,’ aged 19.

” The suspect brutally attacked the victim with knives and firewood, inflicting a deep cut on her right ear and various other degrees of injuries across her body. He then tied the victim with a rope and covered her mouth with a sponge in an attempt to suffocate her.

” Believing she was dead, the suspect dragged and dumped her body into the bathroom before fleeing the scene with the following items:

One (1) iPhone 13 Pro Max, valued at ₦750,000;
One (1) Samsung A05, valued at ₦185,000;
One (1) Power Bank;
A cash sum of ₦18,500 in newly minted ₦10 and ₦20 naira notes was also taken.

” Upon receipt of the report, detectives were immediately deployed to investigate the incident. The victim was rushed to the nearest hospital for immediate medical attention, where she was treated and subsequently discharged.

‘ The operatives swiftly tracked down and apprehended the suspect. During a search, the suspect was found in possession of the stolen iPhone 13 Pro Max and a school bag containing a pair of sandals and a long gown, which he confessed to have purchased with part of the proceeds of the robbery. Two (2) blood-stained knives and the piece of firewood used in the attack were also recovered.

” During interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the commission of the crimes. He will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.”

The Command’s spokesman added that the State Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage commended the complainant for the prompt reporting of the incident and praises the operatives for their swift, professional response that led to the suspect’s arrest.

He reassured the public that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property throughout the state.
