A 19- year old màn, Aliyu Sani is now in police net for attempting to commit robbery with a toy pistol.
The Spokesman for the Katsina State Police Command, DSP Abubakar Aliyu confirmed the development in a statement.
He gave details” The Katsina State Police Command has succeeded in arresting one Aliyu Sani, aged 19, for impersonation and attempted armed robbery.
” On 22nd August 2026, at about 7:00 pm, information was received that the suspect was seen chasing a yet-to-be-identified person while holding and pointing a toy pistol at the victim with the intent to rob him.
” Consequently, in collaboration with members of the local Vigilante Group, police operatives swiftly responded and arrested the suspect on the same date at about 8:00 pm at Kofar Sauri, Katsina.
” Upon arrest and search of the suspect, a black toy pistol was recovered in his possession.
” The suspect was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation during the initial interrogation regarding how he obtained the exhibit.
” The suspect is currently in custody as the investigation proceeds.”
Aliyu added that the State Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, commended the community and the local vigilante for their vigilance and cooperation.
The Police Chief further urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station to decimate all forms of crime and criminality in the state.
