The Katsina State Police Command has foiled a planned bandits’ attack on Dansarai and Kamfani Villages in the Malumfashi Local Government Area
A suspected bandit was killed during the operation.
The spokesman for the Command, DSP Abubakar Aliyu confirmed the development.
His words” On August 25, 2026, at about 6:00 pm, a distress call was received at the Malumfashi Division that some suspected armed bandits, riding on motorcycles, were sighted moving towards Dansarai and Kamfani villages.
” Upon receipt of the report, the DPO immediately mobilized and led a team of operatives alongside VCRU to the scene. The team strategically blocked the anticipated routes of the hoodlums, intercepted them, and engaged them in a gun duel.
” Due to the superior firepower and tactics, the team successfully foiled the attack as the bandits fled the scene in disarray. While scanning the scene, the body of the suspected neutralized armed bandit was recovered.
” Efforts are being sustained to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspect.”
The Spokesman added that the State Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, commended the bravery and professionalism exhibited by the officers. He reaffirmed the commitment of the command towards ensuring safety and security of lives and property throughout the state.
The CP further urged members of the public to continue to support the command with timely and credible information to enable prompt response.
Meanwhile,operatives of the command in collaboration with members of the local vigilante group, have succeeded in arresting two suspects suspected of aiding and abetting banditry and brigandage in Jibia LGA.
Aliyu revealed that on 21st August 2026 at about 1:40 pm, while on routine proactive patrol along Jibia Road, operatives successfully intercepted a black Volkswagen Golf motor vehicle with registration number TFA29AA driven by one Babangida Mohammed, male, aged 35 years, conveying one Rabiu Isah, male, aged 30.
He revealed that during a search of the vehicle, a bag containing items suspected to be used by bandits was recovered.
According to him, the bag contained the following: Six (6) rolls of black belts:
Two rolls of green belts;
One sewing machine:
Two dozen zippers;
Two leather pouches containing sockets;
One black bag containing clothes and One pair of scissors.
Aliyu said the items were believed to be components used for making jackets for carrying magazines and other logistics for armed bandits.
” During interrogation, the suspects confessed to be on a journey to Kwashabawa Village, Zamfara State, a known banditry area,” he added.
Aliyu further revealed that the State Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, commended the vigilance and professionalism of the operatives and reiterates the command’s commitment towards ensuring safety and security throughout the state.
He warned that the Command will continue to clamp down on all collaborators, suppliers, and informants aiding banditry in the state. The suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.
