A group of terrorists have killed one of more than 100 people abducted in Katsina State and sent his severed head to the Shadadi Emirate, according to a local source.
The disturbing development was reported on Friday by a Katsina-based social media user, Bakatsine, who said the victim was among scores of residents currently being held by the bandits.
According to the report, the victim was killed by his abductors and his severed head was allegedly delivered to the Shadadi Emirate on Friday.
“The severed head of one of the more than 100 people abducted by bandits was reportedly sent to the Shadadi Emirate today,” Bakatsine wrote in a post on X.
“The victim was reportedly killed by the abductors. The development is heartbreaking and will undoubtedly deepen fears for the many others who remain in captivity.”
The report comes amid continued concerns over the activities of bandits operating across parts of Katsina State, where residents have faced repeated attacks, abductions and killings.
The latest incident has reportedly heightened fears among families whose relatives remain in captivity, particularly those waiting for information about their loved ones.
The source described the development as a further indication of the dangers facing the abducted victims, while appealing for urgent action to secure the release of those still being held.
“How many more innocent people have to die before this cycle of abductions and killings is brought to an end?” the post asked.
The identity of the deceased was not immediately disclosed in the report.
