The current voter continuous registration exercise embarked upon by the Independent National electoral Commission INEC across the country has gotten the full support by the forum of the State Independent Electoral Commission of Nigeria (FOSIECON).
This remarks is contained in a press released signed by the
National Chairmnan of the forum Mr Mamman Nda Eri which was
made available to our newsroom by the National Publicity Secretary of the forum Alhaji Lawal Alhassan Faskari who is the Chairman of the
Katsina State Independent Electoral commission.
The forum is of the view that the current continuous voter
registration exercise is a vital step towards strengthening
Nigerias nascent democracy as it gives opportunity to all eligible citizens to participate in the upcoming elections.
The statement added that people should know that the current
exercise is purely a National programme under the Independent
National Electoral Commission INEC with full backing and support from all the 36 States of the Federation.
The Forum therefore called on all stakeholders from the civil society, political parties, the media and security agencies to give their maximum cooperation for the success of the exercise.
It further urged all eligible citizens to have the courage and take advantage of the opportunity to either register, or update their voter information to enable their respective voices to be heard loudly at the polls
The Forum also restates its commitments towards working in synergy with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to promote electoral credibility, transparency and citizens participation at both national and grassroots level.
