The KUKAH CENTRE organises a two day Security Engagement stakeholders Meeting in Katsina State.

The KUKAH Centre is to train one thousand local security personnel in five states of the federation to improve security.

The program is supported by the strengthening peace and resilience in Nigeria (SPRING) Programne, which is an initiative of the United Kingdom Foreign Commonwealth and Development office implemented by Tetra Tech International Development.

The Project Manager of the centre, Terseer Bamber, disclosed this during a one day stakeholders engagement on improving Community Security Initiatives for accountable service delivery, held in Katsina.

The five selected States including Kaduna, Katsina,
Sokoto, Plateau and Benue were considered based on their efforts in establishing state security outfits.

“Two hundred beneficiaries would be selected from the five states to benefit from The KUKAH CENTRE and Katsina is among them” according to the project manager.

The project manager of the Centre, Terseer Bamber said the Centre was established as a result of the decades of violence in Nigeria, particularly in the North-West and North-Central regions.

According to him, there is an increasing demand for local community security outfits in the two regions.

Katsina State Governor, Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda, disclosed that his administrations first priority, second and third was the security of life and property of people in the State.

The governor, represented by his Senior Special Assistant on internally displaced persons [IDP] and Victims of banditry, Alhaji Sa’idu Ibrahim, said to ensure the security of people in the State, his administration engages the Services of State Community Watch Corps to synergies with other relevant security agencies in the state to fight banditry and other criminality across the State.

He highlighted the relevance of the KUKAH Center with that of Katsina State government achievements on security related issues.

In an interview, a participant and chairperson of Federation of Muslim Women’s Association of Nigeria FOMWAN Katsina state chapter Hajiya Wasila Sani Saulawa expressed appreciation to KUKAH centre for organizing the Security stakeholders engagement meeting.

“Security is not only solely on Government or NGO’s but a collective responsibility of everyone regardless of religion, ethnicity or tribe “she said.

Those that attended the event includes both relevant Federal and State Ministries, Departments and Agencies representatives, various security agencies,
representatives of the Emir of Katsina and Daura, State chairman of Miyatti Allah kautul Hore, coalation of civil society organisations, as well as Vigilante groups.

The event featured questions and answers for easy comprehension of the Centre’s mission and vision in Nigeria.
