Governor Radda Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusive Governance, Grassroots Development

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and sustainable grassroots development.

The Governor made this known yesterday while receiving members of the Gwagware Support Groups and Associations at the Government House, Katsina.

The high-powered delegation was led by its Chairman, Engineer Abubakar Abdullahi Matazu, Governor Radda commended the group for its steadfast loyalty, effective grassroots mobilisation and consistent support for democratic ideals.

In his remarks, the Governor expressed appreciation to the delegation for the visit, describing the Gwagware Support Groups and Associations as a critical grassroots platform that continues to demonstrate unity, discipline and commitment to good governance.

“I am impressed by your level of organisation, unity of purpose and consistent support. Groups like yours play a vital role in deepening democracy and strengthening the relationship between government and the people at the grassroots,” Governor Radda said.

He reiterated his administration’s resolve to run an inclusive and responsive government, stressing that constructive engagement with support groups and other stakeholders remains key to achieving sustainable development in the state.

Governor Radda assured the delegation that their requests and proposals would be carefully considered and that necessary support would be provided within the limits of available resources.

He further urged the association to continue promoting peace, unity and issue-based mobilisation, noting that meaningful development can only thrive in an atmosphere of stability, cooperation and collective responsibility.

The Governor concluded by thanking the group for their goodwill and unwavering support, and wished them success in their future activities.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Engineer Matazu, who is also the General Manager of the Katsina State Rural Electrification Board, said the visit was to express the group’s appreciation to Governor Radda for his people-oriented policies and developmental strides, which he noted have continued to positively impact communities across the state.

“Our visit is to thank Your Excellency for the good work you are doing for Katsina State and for the people-centred programmes of your administration. We also wish to assure you of our continued loyalty and support, particularly as we prepare towards the 2027 general elections,” he said.

He recalled the significant role played by the association in the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2023 governorship election, adding that the group has since developed new mobilisation strategies aimed at strengthening grassroots support for Governor Radda and the party ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Also speaking, Dr. Kabir Abdullahi Yantumaki disclosed that the delegation comprised the 34 Local Government Coordinators of the association, alongside newly recruited members brought in to expand the group’s reach and enhance its operational effectiveness.

He formally presented a number of requests and proposals to the Governor, which he said would enable the association to function more efficiently and contribute more meaningfully to the success of the present administration.

Those present at the events were the Special Adviser to the Governor on Drug Abuse and Human Trafficking, Hon. Shehu Abdu Daura; the DG government printing, Abba Rufa’i Musawa; the 34 Local Government Coordinators of the association, as well as other leaders and members of the group.
